Governor Nixon recognized the important role of veterans by signing bills that will help grow their pensions and memorialize their service through roadway names a new day of recognition called “Silver Star Families of America Day” to take place on May 1st of each year.
Missouri Motorcyclists still need to wear their helmets after today’s veto of the helmet repeal.
The state received its first $23 Million green installment from the federal government to boost energy efficiency efforts and build infrastructure in the environmental sector.
Keep it cool and keep it smart this weekend folks because no one wants to see fingers and toes flying off on the 4th of July.

I had the pleasure of introducing Dr. Orly to about 100 people total. She educated us on why Obama is NOT a Natural Born citizen, and also gave us specific ACTION steps we can take on this issue. Several State Reps and the Chief of Staff for Senator Lembke attended the meetings.
Media was present at both events…in fact we had three media outlets covering the Jefferson City Meeting!

Credibility gap
Submitted by .Sean on July 2, 2009 - 4:25pm
A commitment to intellectual integrity has never slowed the MOGOP from putting out hyperbolic press releases about the evils of Democratic officeholders everywhere, but this week's batch of hypocritical attacks is really something.
First, there's the hilarious web ad accusing Jay Nixon for "mortgaging our future" with a potential bond issue. Complete with slow fades and dramatic music (which I think is supposed to be scary), the MOGOP video tries desperately to strike fiscal fear in the hearts of viewers. Conspicuously absent from the film are all of the other state leaders who also want to "mortgage our future" -- crazy libruls like Steve Tilley, Ron Richard (depends on the hour), Allen Icet, 58 other GOP Representatives and most of the State Senate.

UPDATE: Via KY3, Roy Blunt has announced that Burson Taylor Snyder "will become the Congressman's deputy chief of staff -- not the communications director of his U.S. Senate campaign, as reported earlier by The Washington Post."
The Washington Post reports today that Roy Blunt has brought on former staffer Burson Taylor Snyder to be his campaign's new communications director.
Snyder was the Communications Director for the Office of the Majority Whip when Roy Blunt was regularly under fire for his ethical lapses, collaboration with Tom Delay and ties to Jack Abramoff. Her experience in those tumultuous months before Delay was indicted and Abramoff went to jail may prove useful to Blunt again.

A real tweet from State Rep. Ed Emery (R-Lamar) this morning:
Productive mtg. yesterday on MO Fair Tax. Very intriquing mtg. last night on question of Mr. Obama's birthplace - conspiracy theory??
Ladies and gentlemen, please meet your "mainstream" Missouri Republicans.

The same day PolitFact.com released a brand new analysis of the already-thoroughly-debunked and discredited theories about Barack Obama's American citizenship, one of the nation's top "birther" crusaders came to Missouri to rally support for her cause. The PolitiFact.com article titled, "Obama's birth certificate: Final chapter. This time we mean it!" suggests that the case is settled. And in the world of facts and documents and reality where most of us reside, it is a done deal. But I just sat through a two-hour meeting with chief birther conspiracist Orly Taitz in Jefferson City, and it's clear that she and her allies exist in an entirely different reality.
My tweets from the event are at www.twitter.com/firedupmissouri.

Gov. Jay Nixon signed two new laws ended a longstanding tradition of political patronage for the state's system of 183 license offices.
Speaker Ron Richard no longer thinks a bond issue will "bury [the state] under a mountain of debt for the next two decades." That is soooooo yesterday.
An audit released today faults former Gov. Matt Blunt's office for slow payments and poor record-keeping concerning his use of private attorneys in a legal fight over office e-mails.
The birthers met in Jefferson City and St. Louis.
Roy Blunt claims to have raised more than $1 million this quarter.
